It is as local as airports.
A travel influencer has gone viral by sharing her experience flying through one of the smallest airports in the world.
Rosy Palma, known online as @travelercolombia, posted a TikTok video of her day traveling through Hacaritama airport in Colombia.
She told The Post that she made the video “to show the beauty in simplicity.”
The tour begins as Palma walks towards a tree that shades a row of seats placed in the dirt that make up the first waiting area.
The area also has a table of Colombian pastries and snacks available for alfresco purchase.
Visitors are instructed to self-check their luggage into the small waiting area, where they are given a ticket and then returned to the outside area.
“Here I have my hand luggage and here you can see the other passengers waiting to be called to enter the second waiting room. On the other side is the airstrip. And passengers who arrived late in line in the sun,” Palma said in the viral video that guides viewers through the area.
She finally entered the indoor waiting area as it was getting close to boarding time.
“This is the second hall you enter when you’re ready to board,” she said.
“And before you get in, they do another manual check of your carry-on.”
There is only one bathroom for all those working and traveling through the airport, but it was okay because the Palma flight was only carrying 48 passengers.
And she noted that it was “quite spacious and clean.”
Passengers were allowed in their seats about 20 minutes before departure and were randomly moved on board.
Although the plane was small, Palma noted that the seats were comfortable and that she enjoyed her experience.
Hacaritama Airport is the only airport in Aguachica, Colombia.
Flights depart exclusively to El Dorado International Airport in Bogotá with SATENA Airlines.
The small airstrip serves the small ATR planes – which usually carry just under 50 passengers.
But those who want to go to the big city can only travel on Sundays, Tuesdays and Thursdays, according to FlightsFrom.com.
